OHL Gutermuth supplies special valve for sulfur recovery
Innovative 4-way valve for SRU applications
Valve expert OHL Gutermuth has developed a valve specifically for use in SRU applications. The automated OHL 4-way CDM valve is also used in plants that achieve sulfur recovery of up to 99.7% using SmartSulf® technology.
Due to the presence of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide, the processes in Sulfur Recovery Units are complex and require valves that can withstand extreme conditions. The OHL 4-way CDM valve combines features relevant for use in toxic, sulfurous, and corrosive processes, offering a reliable solution for all common procedures. The OHL 4-way CDM valve meets the requirements of leakage class IV-V ISO 5208 D and is available in valve sizes up to 40″. Resistance to high temperatures of up to +450°C (higher temperatures on request) and compliance with the highest standards guarantee reliability and safety.
SmartSulf® Technology
SmartSulf® is a sulfur recovery technology based on the Claus process, but it operates without a Tail Gas Treatment Unit (TGTU) and replaces sulfur recovery with a more compact solution. Depending on the type of plant, sulfur recovery of up to 99.7% can be achieved.
The 4-way CDM valve developed by OHL is already in use worldwide in many reference plants using the SmartSulf® process. In these processes, the OHL 4-way CDM valve is installed directly before and after the hot gas reactor and requires only minimal monitoring thanks to automation.
Expert in natural gas desulfurization
Since the 1970s, OHL Gutermuth has been supplying the world’s largest gas plants with various shut-off valves for use in Claus plants and processes. Due to their enormous robustness and durability, these special valves have proven themselves in natural gas desulfurization and gas purification. Many of the valves have been in use since the plants were built and are only now, 55 years later, being gradually replaced or modernized.
Promoting climate-friendly technologies
With the OHL 4-way CDM valve, the industrial valves expert is contributing to process solutions that favor more environmentally friendly sulfur recovery. Part of OHL Gutermuth’s corporate DNA is continuous development to promote innovation and sustainability. OHL Gutermuth has accompanied and supported SmartSulf® technology from the very beginning. For questions regarding the individual application area of the OHL 4-way CDM valve, OHL Gutermuth is available to provide expert advice.
